Dennis and Debbie Gilbert

Pastor Dennis Gilbert Sr.

I was born in 1956 and raised in this area and as a teenager was saved at Fellowship Baptist Church of Elkton. As a young man God began dealing with me about preaching his precious word and I preached my first message at Charlestown Baptist Church when I was 17 years old. I enlisted in the Navy, married my wonderful wife Deborah and started our family in 1973. After completing military service we returned home and I went to work for Amtrak where I have worked for over 30 years. I fully surrendered to the Lords will and returned to Charlestown Baptist Church after helping to start another church and working there for several years.

In 2001, I became pastor of Charlestown and count it a blessing and privilege to serve the Lord here. I do not believe I could pastor a group of people who are as supportive and loving as the folks I’ve been blessed to worship with. Together with the members of the church we have seen soul’s saved, hearts touched and lives transformed by the grace of God. It’s my desire to be used of the Lord to his glory as he continues to work in the lives of the people of our community.

Steve and Beka Dixon

Associate Pastor Steve Dixon Jr.

I was raised in church all of my life and was saved by God’s marvelous grace at five years old.  Even though I haven’t lived all of my life for the Lord, He has always been faithful.  When I was sixteen years old God called me to preach and at eighteen I surrendered to the call and have been so greatly blessed in His ministry.

My wife Rebekah and I got married in July of 2001 and have been blessed with three wonderful children (Xena, Ben, and Dylan).  In 2005 the Lord called us away from our home church to be the Associate Pastor of Charlestown Missionary Baptist Church.  Our time, since we’ve been here, has been vital to the spiritual growth of our family.  My wife, daughter, and oldest son have been saved here and if the Lord tarries we trust that our youngest son will be saved here as well.  The spiritual freedom and the warm family atmosphere make Charlestown Baptist Church the best church I have ever been to.

I owe a great debt of gratitude to my family, friends, and men of God who have showed me how to live for the Lord and prayed for me.  Most of all, I thank the Lord who sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and save me from all of my sins.  I pray as Paul did in Acts 26:29; that everyone I know will hear the power of the Gospel and be saved!

Dialup users: It maybe more beneficial for those with dialup internet access to use the Windows Media Player to listen to the sermons which are MP3 formatted files. WPA will start playing the sermon before it has finished the download which is known as streaming data. The Windows Media Player, which is standard on most computers, has to be setup before starting the sermon download. This can be done by opening the media player from the start menu, then Programs, then Accessories, and finally Entertainment. Once the program is open, select TOOLS from the main menu bar, then OPTIONS. Locate the FILE TYPES tab and then click on the MP3 audio file box. Click on the OK button and then select one of the sermons to test the new setup.  Allow about 2-3 minutes to pass before clicking on the Windows Media Player's play button if the sermon does not automatically start playing.
